Hi Andy,

Have any study ever been performed to compare the output of Icecap ballast version others i.e Tar, blueline. I am curious to know. If not, any plan for future ? The only comparison I have seen so far is that of 175 watt.

Thanks

From IceCap:
I don't believe there has been any independent comparisons done except on the 250-MHI (Iwasaki Ballast)version we carry. I've heard different accounts of how our output stood up to conventional MH ballasts or MV ballasts for the Iwasaki 250-watt bulb that don't put us 20% ahead of the pack like the Model 175-MH tests have shown. Nevertheless, I believe we would always come out on top for any efficiency and lamp-life comparisons because of the technology we incorporate in running a MH bulb.
One review discussed ballast temperature while operating and found some of the potted ballasts ran near to our operating temperature. I would be interested in seeing what the ballast temperature was an hour after the lamps were turned off. The IceCap would be at home temperature in no time at all while a potted ballast would still be releasing built-up waste heat the potting compound stored. Waste heat indicates wasted energy and adds unneeded heat to your system.
