View Full Version : Stuttering Sound with my RO/DI?

I have a 3 year old (just installed all new filters) Optima Pro 4 stage from purelyh20. I'm about to go crazy from the constant stuttering from the pressure gauge.

It used to be only once in a great while, but now I'm hearing it every few minutes.

If you look at the pressure gauge it stays at zero RO/DI is hooked to float valve sitting in 5 gal bucket. Every few minutes it makes a loud stuttering noise and the needle jumps up for a seconds and goes back to zero.

Is this more likely to be a float valve issue (haven't replaced it in 3 years) or the pressure gauge being faulty, or maybe just something goofy about my water pressure?

Anyone ever solved this? Thanks.

I would say your float valves seat assembly could be dirty but it could also be trapped air in the RO system.
While the unit is running pick it up and rotate it around in all different positions to burp it.
When changing filters it is wise to disconnect the line from the carbon block up to the membrane and flow the prefilter and carbon to waste for a minute or two. This does two things, one is it flushes any carbon dust out and two it burps the air so it does not get trapped in the membrane housing.
I hope you disinfected the system while you had it apart to change filters??? Do not forget this very important step.
