Thinking of getting a foxface. Is it good for hair algae?

IMO you shouldn't add any livestock to "cure" a problem in your tank. It's always a coin flip when doing this anyway.

You need to figure why you are having the outbreak in the first place.

^^^I agree, but my foxface eats every thing including bubble algae.

FWIW I added a piece of rock with a little HA on it, and it was gone in minutes.

Turbo snails! our tank had bad hair alge and we got a bunch of turbo snails and wow what a difference. we would just get one off the glass and put them on the rock we wanted them on and the mowed away!

If it were only that easy to add a fish. ;) Like Tswifty points out, long term you're much better of figuring out how your tank is supporting hair algae and adjusting as necessary.

your fox face may turn out like mine and not eat any of it unless it was tank cleaning time at which he will gobble it up like crazy.

But once tank cleaning is done then he would not eat any tiny leftovers at all and made me do all the work.
