Blasto placement for best growth

I recently got a Blasto Wellsi (30+polyps) and I noticed that the polyps are wrapping and growing around the edges. How should this be placed to minimize it from growing that way as opposed to growing out? Directly on the sand? on top of a rock or leaning against a rock?

What lighting do you have? also a full tank shot would help...

My lighting is T5(1x54w 10k, 1x54w 460nm and MH(250w 14k) over that part of the tank. I don't run the MH that much with the hot weather right now (4-6h about 4d a week on average).

The Blasto seemed to be growing around the edges when I got it a few weeks ago. Just wondering if it will eventually grow out if I place it directly on the sand

I keep mine on the sand but if the flow is to strong they will grow oddly.
