I have a flame hawk in my 20g and I feel he is getting a little big for the tank. I also have a 38g with the sole inhabitant being a pixy hawk. If I added the flame to the 38 would they fight? The tank has between 40-50lbs of liverock. Thanks in advance.

The hawk in the 38 is Amblycirrhitus pinos and around 2", the flame around 2.75"

I have a Pixie and a Longnose together with no problems. They completely ignore each other (they are in a 300gal). Not sure how much that helps you.

not with one hawkfish already established in that size tank. well not in that size tank period. In a larger tank you can.

I don't see a problem, I have kept several hawks in a 40 in the past, I had a red spotted hawk (from the atlantic) and 2 hawaiian hawks, an arc eye and a long nose, they just ignored each other for the most part.

Is your pixie hawk aka coral hawk or a geometric?

I've got a coral hawk in my 40 gallon, and it's really aggressive - far more than the flame I had before. He beat the living daylights out of my mystery wrasse (who is, admittedly, something of a wimp). If you try this, I would just keep a careful eye on them.

Though my tank is a 220, I have a Large Flame, and a medium sized Long Nose... No problems... The swim right by each other...

The 'pixy' is Amblycirrhitus pinos aka red spotted hawkfish. Only been in the 38g for 2 weeks, so not really established. I may try it and if they don't get along just send the flame back to the 20...I really want a goby and pistol again but am not just going to give my hawk away to get one...

oh, mine's cirrhitichthys oxycephalus, which I've also seen referred to as a "pixie." hate common names. good luck.
