I am in the process of using a coral tank as a "refuge" for a large Butterfly tank. I can grow Montipora very quickly but only have three types of Acro's and I believe the fish prefer Acro's to eat.
Any suggestions?

I think pocciliporas and stylo's grow faster then most acros'
but if your looking for an acro I'd consider a. formosa
scripps acro (a. micropthalmus? I forget) in my tank grows very quickly. so does the yellow slimer (a. yongei).

A. pulchra is reportedly the fastest growing acro with an annual maximum gain of 16".
btw... brown grows faster than colorful corals, since it is feeding fodder, get brown corals.
In my experience.. the fastest:
1. Seriatopora Hystrix
2. Acropora Microphthalma
3. Acropora Valida
4. Acropora Yongei
5. Montipora Capricornis
6. Montipora Digitata
If you are strictly asking for Acropora, my vote goes to Microphthalma. This one's a pest, almost like bubble algae.

Birdsnest (seriatopora) grows the fastest in my tank
green slimmer, birdsnest, and yellow millepora grow the fastest in my tank
I knew what I had didnt sound right. Microphthalma. I wouldnt call it a pest, more like a cash cow for frag swaps.
