I bought my last two buckets of RC from F&S and will probably keep ordering from them. You just can't beat the price even with shipping.

i think at reg. price its 34 dollars plus 9.99 for however many buckets, i forget what the limit is. 29.99 right now at
www.drsfostersmith.com

was wondering if anyone got it cheaper at regular price than them? i saw other online places selling them for as high as 48 dollars a bucket

**i take that back, it says 39.99 plus shipping for regular and it was crossed out. for that price im better buying red sea for 45 locally, but the sale isnt bad

We do group buys for it, locally, from DFS. You can't beat the price with shipping! At $30 per bucket, it ends up costing us less than $32 per bucket after shipping!

how many people do you need for a group buy?

F & S for the last few years now.

Cant be beat the price nor can you beat the fact that they drop off 8 buckets every time right outside my garage door for $14.99.

I do it by the bag, 50g is a nice even measurement for my system to do a water change with.

DRf&S.

you can do a "group buy" with any amount of people. it will save you on shipping is all. at like 250$ or something the shipping peaks, so if you have atleast that many orders, you should all be able to save on shipping.

but... you have to get all those people to come pick it up, and depending on their distance and such, it might be worth to pay the 10$ on a 100$ personal order of salt instead of saving 8$ and having to drive 50miles to pick it up.

I started buying Tropic Marin now for $24 for a 50G box which is a lot more than the $14 I had been paying for 50G of Instant Ocean. Red Sea salt is the cheapest here, I think a 50G little bucket is about $12.

All LFS prices. Don't know if thats good prices or bad but I hate ordering anything online and the LFS is about 10 minutes away.

wow thats cheap, a bargain, im paying £14.95 which is probably $30.00 for the same, in fact probably less salt, mind you everything over here is expensive:mad:

Wow and I thought this Tropic Marin salt was way overpriced. I am used to paying either $14 for a 50G bag or $32 for a 150G box of bags of Instant Ocean.

its even £3.00 for a beer which is $6.00, hence my comment about prices over here, mind you in sweden its even worse

For us Americans TM is typically more expensive do to shipping and the declining $ to the euro, at our store I'd be killing myself if I even tried to carry TM, the online gigs would sell it for close to what I pay for it!!

It's not a group buy organized by DFS, it's organized by you and your local fellow hobbyists. The more of you that go in on the order, the cheaper the shipping will be per bucket.

I bought a bucket of RC from Dr F & S for $35 an $9.99 S&H. I did find a coupon code for $5 off a purchase of $30 or more. You can't beat having a bucket of salt delivered to your door for $40, when my lfs charge 50 plus dollars for the same bucket.

I have learned when ordering online to do a search for a discount coupon code that I can enter when I check out. Every little penny saved helps.

My LFS, FAOIS, buys pallets of salt, typically RC and TMPR and has special pricing for a couple of weekends to unload it.

Am I the only one that prints out the online coupon for PetSmart and brings it into the store for IO?

It brings a 160 gal bucket down to $34.99ish. At my LFS's the same bucket is $59.99. Gotta love the 'in store price match' from the PetSmart website.

;)

3 buckets of reefcrystals $33 each and $10 shipping, and $5 coupon you can look up online. they dont offer the $33 a bucket sale all the time, but when they do it is great. i buy 3 shipped to my door for $104

It's not actually a coupon...sorry about that. All you have to do is print out the page from their website showing that IO is $34.99 or $35.99 whatever it is. They match it in store...they'll all know what's going on when you bring it to the register. LOL They all do around here anyways. Lots of reefers do it in this area.

It's like a sneaky way of getting around the shipping cost. I just don't understand why they 'match it' when it is obvious to them why we do it. ??

I have a buddy that uses IO, and that is what he does, works good for him. They don't cary RC local here or else I would do it too.

Between the LFS's gouging prices and the cost of gas I can get two pails of Reef Crystals shipped half way across the country and delivered to my front door, cheaper then I can drive across town and pick it up. It's a no brainer for me. Dr Foster & Smith is the way to go.
