Is this the fish your are talking about:

They list it as a Strawberry Pseudochromis. I've had both at one point or another. The Royal Gramma are great, really don't hurt any other fish, just open their mouths to scare.

But, the Strawberry Pseudo I had was down right nasty. It shreaded the tail fins off of my firefish until it died. And that was the 1st day I had it. It also chased by Blue Devil Damsels. I personally wouldn't add another, ever. Maybe a Fridiman.

fridmani with a royal gramma would probably be fine (looks like the strawberry but the fins are purple too), but a strawberry pseudochromis [Pseudochromis porphyreus] would kill your royal gramma (and lots of other fish to boot).

A black cap basslet would be a safe bet too- probably safer. (It is a true basslet, Gramma melacara .)
