I don't know what I am doing wrong this time...
I just got my skimmer, and I turned it on, built it correctly.
But, the bubbles arent producing? Or do I have to wait?
they are producing, but not in the cup.
Also, my mag 5 is spitting something out, looks like a mix of bubbles with tiny particles. Can I just take off the baffle separating the skimmer and mag 5? This will stop the mag 5 from doing this. And no, there is no tornado in the water, no bubbles reaching the intake. I even checked with a flashlight to be sure.
10g sump

I raised the water level "pipe" and the foam came up, but it was more water than foam.

Adjust the pipe up and down until the bubbles pop right around the lip. That way, you'll end up with a dark sludge instead of tea-colored water.
I got some pictures....
first of the return line.

the water level of the pump

and then the skimmer not getting foam up there.

Can I remove my last baffle so the skimmer and pump can be together? This will stop the bubbles from going into the display tank.. I'm sure of it.
Any ideas? I need this ready soon, I have to pick up my clean up crew..

Did you rinse out the skimmer first? (( not a big deal if you didn't )). It will take a while ( couple of days ) for it to start producing a bubble head. Most of the time there is a film on the skimmer body, from the production process, that will interfere with the bubble production. It just needs to break in.
Thanks todd.
My other big concern is the cracked baffle. I think that's whats making the bubbles go in the pump.. should I just remove it?
Well I'm just going to go ahead and remove it.

The baffle b/t the skimmer output and the return pump? If so, removing it will create more bubble issues.
I removed it. well half of it. THe bubbles stopped :D I'm guessin the splash effect the baffle was doing was producing bubbles.
I haven't turned on the skimmer yet. I will in a minute.
