What mag to run on an MRC1?

I have an MRC1 with a single Becket injector and am currently running a mag 9.5 on it. I seen others using mag 12's on them. I am getting about three cups of skim mate a day on the setup now but wonder if there is a way to get it darker and or gunkier? Right now the skimate is like Dark Ice Tea but not very stinky....

Would a larger pump be overkill? Is there another submersible pump anyone could recommend? An out of sump pump is not do able due to no room under the tank?

Don't get me wrong the 9.5 is working and it's skimming but I think it can skim better? I wish I could do an external but there isn't any way to pull it off.

I wonder if I would have to throttle back the 12 vs the 9.5? Anyone else running a mag 12 on their MRC1's????

no you shouldnt have to throttle it back. Becketts can be pushed very hard. The higher the head pressure the pump rating the better.

Well I threw the mag 12 on and WOW I have to run the gate valve fully open and its kicking foam like mad now!!! Much better with the 12 vs the 9.5!!!!:)

Now to dial it in to get some nice dark stinky foam. Right now it looks like tea...Hopefully it will darken up!
