hello, i was wondering if anyone has purchased a skimmer from DFS? If so, what type and what are your impressions on it? I am currently looking at the Seaclone 100 or 150 or the Prizm Deluxe.

Mr.A,

Thank you for your post. We recommend the Turboflotor Skimmers and currently we use the 1000 Multi on our 180 gallon reef aquarium in our call center. We have had great success with this product. For opinions from fellow hobbyist we suggest posting your question in the vendor experiences forum as well.

thanks for the comment but i dont have a sump so the turboflotor 1000 would be out and i dont think i can afford a 1000 multi. The Seaclone 150 and Prizm Deluxe wont fit after further research so i am thinking about the seaclone 100. what are your opinions on this skimmer? Also, in the picture for it, it shows that the skimmer goes pretty high above the tank. Do you know how high exactly it is and if you can change it to be level with the tank? Thanks

Mr.A,

Thank you for your reply. The SeaClone skimmer is a great product, our customers have been pleased with this model. We do have some testimonials (http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/supplemental/customer_comments.cfm?pcatid=4400) listed online if you would like to view them.
The top of the Skimmer measures about 5 ½” above the rim of the aquarium to the top of the collection cup. Unfortunately, this is not adjustable. Please contact us with any additional questions or comments.

I've heard a lot of horror stories from folks who have bought the SeaClone skimmers.. Maybe you should try a BakPak or Tunze in-tank Model..

If you want a cheap skimmer that barely works and is nearly impossible to clean regularly go for it. Otherwise the Super Skimmer by Coralife isn't much more $$ and is better in both regards.
