View Full Version : What's a good choice of fish for frag tank

I set one up about 3 weeks ago. I'm starting to get a pretty good layer of algae on the bottom ( bare, of course ), frag racks, the frag plugs and sides. I was thinking of adding some snails but a good herbivore would be more interesting. It's a 29 gal with high flow and no rock ( of course ) for hiding places. Is there a fish that I could keep singly that would clean house and be comfortable?

I'd recommend maybe trying a pygmy angel, but it being a frag tank, the risk of nipping might not be worth it.

I would not risk a pygmy angel. Maybe a large variety of snails or dosing vodka. Im sure there is some fish I just cant think of one at the moment.

If you want some great algae eaters, I'd recommend a small lawnmower blenny, a royal tuxedo urchin, and a small sally lightfoot crab to go with other snails/hermits. They'll be all you need. I have all these in my 24 gallon sps/lps tank and they work well. I even have to supplement nori for them.
