I am wanting to remove my bio balls from my wet/dry trickle filter due to all of the bad things I contine to read about them but I have a few questions. I understand to remove them slowly but should or shouldn't I replace them with LR rubble? The bio balls sit on top of a eggcrate and there would not be alot of room for the rock to be submerged in water. What are your opionions?

If it is like my wet/dry was, you should be able to remove the eggcrate as well, and put the rubble down there. Again, if it is like mine, that should give you about 4" of submersible space.

Are you certain that your LR is cured and ready? If it is take the bio balls out about 30% at a time over a week or so until all out. Then add the LR all at once. Like APROSODY^ mentioned, most likely the eggcrate is removable and you can add a little more LR.

Also depending on how much LR and the volume of your tank...you might not even have to add LR.
