MSX 200 (22.75")

or

MSX 250 (24.75")

or

MSX 300 (24.75")

**Note: You will need to add about 1" to the height for removal of the collection cup.**

Royal exclusive Supermarines 250 its worth every cent!!!!!
My story, I started out with a Knop Maxi 100 (built by Daniel Knop). The algae on the outlets started irritating me, so I got a sump and then got a Skimmer Beast. Well the pump was real loud and it also didn't really suck that much out. The came my Tunze Doc Skimmer, it didn't take anything out at all, I tried different water levels, settings etc. etc. (maybe I was just unlucky with that one, because Tunze normally kicks butt). I move a couple of months ago and got a 160g Reef. I had some cash left over and bit the bullet. I ordered my Supermarines 250. Received it, plugged it in and it started pulling out coffee with turds floating on the surface after the first few minutes. All I can say is incredible!!!!!

come on guy's i need some help here, lots of people looking how about giving some opinions. I was going to use a asm but I have had a few people on here tell me not to use. if you agree tell me why or give me other options or tell me why I should use asm if you like them. I have also been looking at octo's.
thanks for all opinions and help from all.

admann, I have used ASM skimmers in the past and they will do the trick but there are better options out there. The biggest concern with the ASM skimmers IMO is the quality of the product vs its cost. Of the 5 skimmers I have owned the ASM is by far the cheapest built and with its past popularity the price increases have become prohibitive.

The MSX is a very good skimmer for the money. Probably about the best value out there right now. It is not exactly plug and play as some have described. Mine required some remeshing/tinkering to get the skimmer running reliably. Once past this problem the MSX really skims and is definately worth consideration. I ran the MSX 200 on my 210 but it was not quite enough for my system. I would aim for the 250 on your system if you are considering the MSX line.

I like the Octopus Pro Series. Excellent skimmers.

1) Octopus Recirculating skimmers are good and pretty low energy to run too. The recirculating pump uses 35w electric and you only need a feed pump that is about 1.5 times your tank size and that pump can be a maxi-jet 1200 and thats only 20w.

2) Bermuda Aquatic skimmers are also a great skimmer. You do not need to modify anything to make it perform. Just need a pretty strong feed pump. I am currently using a Eheim 1262 (900GPH) on a BPS-5C. Can go up 300GPH more if needed. the Eheim pump should be around 65w.

Either is good and I have both. No mods were done on the Octopus and I know I can get more out of it, but just hate to see the recirc pump die because of mod. The ocean isn't that clean.
