Not sure what it is. Its in my 1200 gallon tank and I wasn't the one that put it there. My LRS guy couldn't figure it out. Any ideas? Thanks a lot!

Thats a algae/lawnmower or black sailfin blenny. the color seems faded for either, but the shape is right.

Hmm, thanks. I thought it might be a lawnmower but the coloration is just so far off I didn't know.

I've been IDing new stuff out of this tank practically every day for months. Pretty cool.

Thanks again!

Look up a fish called a zebra rockskipper, they are one of many striped blennies with a notched dorsal fin.

It is definitely in the Genus Entomacrodus http://www.fishbase.org/identification/specieslist.cfm?famcode=392&areacode=

It looks to be a black sailfin blennie because the Jeweled skipper (lawnmower blennie) has jewels on it (usually diamonds or spots of fluorescent coloration)

It is definitely not a black sailfin blenny or a "lawnmower blenny

I have a black sailfin blenny that looks JUST like this, but a bit darker in color, I wouldnt rule it out

This is what I think of as the black sailfin blenny Atrosalarias fuscus, but thats the problem with common names:)

Notice that it has a one continuous dorsal fin, not the same.
