Looking into different options for lighting a 36" 46bow front
containing simple softies, leathers, zoa's mushrooms, and some easy lps, ie. the euphilliya family

was thinking 4 39w T5's would that be sufficient?

for cooling concerns, I'm trying to stay away from Metal Halide.

I have on my 46g bowfront CF's. I keep LPS, softies, and some SPS.

I've never had a problem with heat with them.

I use a 6 tube T5 on my 46 but I am keeping mostly SPS. For your tank I think a single reflector 4 tube will be fine. However, if you ever want to try light hungry corals then buy a 6 tube with individual reflectors.

I think you'd be fine with the 4 bulb T5 unit. I use one on my 36" 65g and it works great. Currently using the Tek Fixture, love it.
