So here's a stupid question, do I need an airstone in my tank? I havea 46 gallon bowfront, my primary mechanical filter is a H.O.T. magnum, I have a 10 gallon fuge, a seaclone skimmer(just for now). My tank isn't drilled I have a skimmer box.....so a lot of pics I'm seeing of people's set-ups have no stone that's why I'm asking.

I would think that the skimmer aerates the water enough.

no you dont need airstones as long as you have good flow and the top of your tank isnt covered by glass or some other non breathable material you will have oxygen exchange

Well....do you need one ???? Not as long as you have a good water flow at the water surface. HOWEVER.....a air stone never hurts. An air pump & stone will cost around $15.00.......Its just a cheep Insurance.
Plus....I have a battery backup air pump. It kicks in if the electricty goes off.
To me, its like....do I need auto insurance.........NOT unless I get in a auto wreck.........BUT then....too late
