lateral line desease its a pain to cure but the general causes are poor water/ stressful condition poor diet ect ect there are many things just to name a few...
as far as curing ofer a variety of diferent foods since hes a tang give him diferent sea vegies soaked in aminos and vitamin and try to give him some direct sunlight if he has none that may be your problem as well just a few things to consider good luck

Steven,

Wow - sounds like a classic case of particulate-induced HLLE to me<grin>. IIRC - we had a system that had not had carbon on it for quite some time, but when the aquarist cleaned out the sump, it stirred something up (carbon fines?) and HLLE developed in some fish.

Billford - just curious; what is the history of carbon use on this tank?

definately MHLLE. Change up the food your feeding her. Also improve the water conditions. A Varied healthy diet with good water conditions then you shouldnt get MHLLE
