I hear all the time that Blue or Niger Triggers do not exceed 12". Thats not true. Here is a video of one (not my video) in the ocean. He is quite large but by no means the biggest I have seen.
Anyways, its always interesting to see how big these guys "should" get.
Maybe a pic first...Again, not mine:

Looks like a Blueline Trigger, not a Niger.
Cool video though!!!

This is a big Niger not a Blueline you can see the difference in this vid of a very large Niger Trigger.

Ok, I don't know my Trigger that well :) I could ID most any puffer but not so much the Trigs!
My brother had actually sent me that video saying it was a Niger but he was obviously wrong too...hes no expert on Triggers either! Although he is a marine biologist, jeez you would think he could get his fish straight :)
Thanks for the vid!

Hard to tell really what size it is from a video.
BTW, I've got the wrasse that keeps circling in the first video :)

Personally I think its gives a pretty good idea of size. I mean its easy to see that hes well over a foot anyways. Its fins and proportion kind of give an idea of size too. Smaller triggers do not have such thick fins.
I also think the way he is moving the rocks around gives away his size. Mine moves pebbles around the tank but could never pick up that rock!

There is a Niger Trigger at a Rainforest Cafe in Toronto, Canada that is at least 18" and 3" thick, his teeth are 3/4" in length.
I have a photo, not the best picture, he was hiding a lot, this pic might give an idea

Was thinking the same thing, the mouths are a bit different, Nigers have that "underbite". Both are awesome though!!!

You can tell it is a huge trigger!! I loved the way he was re-arranging whatever he wanted. BTW- looked like a Niger to me too.

Triggers are the bomb! They can do whatever they want and beat up any fish they want (well, almost).
