Until I get my RO / DI up and running would a shot or two of this stuff liven up my corals and / or fish?

Just curious.

Some people are completely anal about using ocean water because of the chance of introducing parasites to the tank, but I've done water changes with it with no problems. There are many people that do this with good success.

Unfortunately, I don't have a good place to harvest water or I'd do it more. I live 150 yards from the beach.

I assume you know this won't work for make up water for evaporation.

I would be getting the purified stuff from PetSmart. I'm nowhere near a beach unfortunately.

I've used the boxed/bottled ocean water many times in the past. When I lived in So. Cal Catalina saltwater was available at all the stores. It's perfectly safe and arguably better than what you can make yourself.

I just wanted to try it a time or two. It is too expensive to use all the time.

go for it, but overall it's better to stick to a single brand of salt, ocean water, etc. For example, I've used Instant Ocean from the start except for a few attempts to harvest my own ocean water.
