OK so i switched the 2' drain with 1 1/2' drain(smallest piping that can fit it) and my tank is extremely loud. the TV needs to be turned all the way up to hear over the tank. i tried having the drain submerged in the sump but that just causes a slurping eco out the top bulk-head. And then i have the drain just above teh water level of the sump the splashing from that is extremely loud. WHAT can i do to make this quieter. other wise the girlfriend says i have to get rid of it?

what kind of overflow do you have? these are easy to build and makes them stupid quiet....

Stockman standpipe if you are using a HOB overflow, Durso standpipe for built in overflow.

does the stockman attach to the end of the piping before the sump or at teh entrance in teh overflow box? it sounds like it fits in teh overflow box, but im trying to figure out how to get it in there since the overflow box is in teh middle of the tank under the center brace.

thanks for all teh help so far
