Which nano tank has anyone had experience leaving alone for 3-7 or more days. I know it's a stretch and open tanks are out. Reef keeping is not possible without daily attention?

I don't think any of the AIO's will make it on there own, but if you automate the system (auto top off, auto dosers, temp controller, auto feeder, chiller, fan, controller, timers, etc) you may be alright.

I have my system set up so I can leave for 3 days without touching it, and everything is controlled to keep it stable.

Good luck!

Ever since I got an Auto-Top Off for my tank, I can go for 5 straight days without having to refill my RO water container. My top off container is around 3-4 gallons.

At one time I had a 24 gallon nano drilled to my 20 fuge and 55 gallon sump. Early pic showing full tank shot. Of course this shot shows just the setup no corals, fish yet.

Temp, salinity, etc was automated. No problems leaving for a week.

With an ATO and no fish any tank can go several days without attention. It's the fish and input of nutrients (or lack of input) that will cause problems. With the ATO everything else can just be put on timers.

=ARE there sumpless ATOs? I desperately need one or a good idea how to build one

Many places sell ATOs for nanos and a sump is not necessary.

do i need a refugium, or can i just throw chaeto in the tank and "trim" it as it gets big?

As long as you have a ATO and no fish I think you should be fine.

my tank was a mess and complicated. At one time I had five nano's setup with the fuge. I upgraded to a 120 tech and never looked back.
