I have a 2.5 gal tank that I use to mix kalk right now and want to stop the kalk and just start using pickling lime. My question is, how much pickling lime can I put in the 2.5 gal?

The setup is really simple. Basically it's just an aqualifter pump on a timer during the night, and has just served as my top off.

-Thanks

Well, 2 teaspoons per gallon will saturate the water with calcium hydroxide, so ~5 teaspoons. Much more and you'd really just be wasting the CaOH2 powder.

kalk = pickling lime

^^ yep Kalkwasser is German for Lime Water.

FWIW I use 4 TBSP in my 3 gal top off reservoir.

That is 2 level teaspoons per gallon of top off water (I just want to be sure as folks have occasionally thought it was per gallon of tank water). If you use calcium oxide (quicklime) instead of calcium hydroxide, it takes less. But if you use anything called pickling lime, that would be 2 level teaspoons.
