i've had my LR curing in my tank for 5 days now and on average each one of the those days ive seen one particular rock releasing transparent white fluid in 'mini explosions' from its pores. can anyone give me any insight on what it might be?

That sounds like snails spawning to me

Or just little squirts expelling waste.

would snails be spawning during the cruing process? its only been a couple days since i took the rocks out of the box! But to be honest i dont know too much snails though...

Could be the squirts, the rock just has some basic purple coraline algea with a couple of feather duster worms. The fluid seems to be coming out from inside the rock, ive been right in front of the tank a few times when its happend and cant see and organisms atleast on the surface that could casue this. ill try and get figure out how to post decent sized pictures and take a photo of the rock in question.

I've seen it in my tanks when they were young. I always thought it was some sort of boring clam. Looked like the rock was puffing smoke now and then.

a lot of clams and other inverts will spawn when stressed, so it could be why you're seeing it now. I wouldnt worry about it, just keep the skimmer going (if you've got one) and keep up with the water changes.

yeah that would make sense. no worries then, im getting full cups each day so far and the water changes are 25% every other day to keep any amonia spikes at bay. Also seems to be keeping my feather dusters happy as im using natural sea water and they cant get enough of the fresh photoplankton.
Cheers for the help.
