Hello-
I got a cleaner shrimp about a 5 days ago. He was drip acclimated and did great. On day 2 I noticed he had molted, and saw him hanging out up in the top wall of the tank. Lights went out and I saw him go enter a cave.
Thats the LAST I saw of him.
So today I decided it was time to re-aquascape anyway, and moved things around looking for him. I dismantled the cave I last saw him in, and at the very bottom my sally lightfoot crab skittered away.
I googled it to find that numerous people have had sally lightfoot crabs eat cleaner shrimp right after they molt. Im not a happy camper.
I was wondering if someone can let me know how well they hide after a molt. I feel like I looked under every rock, but I guess its totally possible he could have hid really, really well. I also know that there wern't a TON of Sally Lightfoot murder stories - and mine is pretty small (maybe the size of a quarter, not counting the legs?).
So whats more likely? I think Im giving the lightfoot away now because of the possibility, but is this type of crab eating a cleaner shrimp more common than it just hiding really, really well?
And I have no fish that would eat shrimp (yellow tang, clowns, royal gramma, cardinal)
