OK, so take it from the goof who didn't read more about the different varieties of clowns.............READ! Get TRUE TRUE TRUE perchs, or maroon. Make sure before you get any, that they are cool with the others in your tank. I love my clowns, but they wouldn't host on a bet!!! :)

Dude I even taped a picture of clowns hosting to the tank so they could get the idea! I know....it's ok to laugh! :) (I have False perchs)

You mean true perculas. Even false perculas are true clownfish.
Anyhow, if they are wild-caught they will take to a native carpet nem but carpets require intense lighting. I'd go with a bubble nem and add them at the same time or nem first.

It's been my experience that clarkii clowns are one of the easiest to get to host. I have a captive bred clarkii that will host practically any anemone that I put in there, condylactis, bubble tip, and a carpet to date...

One trick that I've learned to help a stubborn clown host is to do the following. Black out the aquarium by putting a dark blanket around the tank. Wait for a while until the clown falls asleep. You'll know they're asleep because they will be completely still in their favorite spot and be very very pale in color. Now while they're asleep very gently guide them into the anemone with your hand. It'll wake up and find him/herself comfortably in the nem and hopefully take to it. It may take a try or two, but it's worked for me.

Good Luck!

I'm suprised no one has mentioned this already, anemones take intense lighting and require perfect water conditions. Your tank should be established for 6 months-1 year before you even think about adding one.

Clowns do not NEED anemones and are a lot easier to keep than anemones, so read a lot about anemones before you decide to go get one. You should also read about any fish you want even if it is labeled "easy".

Dont try moving them in to a carpet anemone while they are trying to sleep or they will become a snack for the carpet.

Carpets are the ultimate fish trap.:worried:

"Nemo" was a false perc (aka ocellaris) and hosted in a Heteractis magnifica.

Man im happy now. I have a marron and gold clown and i just put a anem. in my tank about 2 weeks ago and the clown went str8 to it. She stays in it, i put krill in and she grabs it and takes it to the anem. My buddy bought one at the same time from the same place and his clown wont even look at the anem.

Glad it worked for you, but I think that is a very bad idea. Could very well end up with an eaten clown.

Go to Karensroseanemones.com she is GENIOUS!!!!! Read all that she has to say. I think you will find that f perchs are so tough to host. Carpet, no way in a new tank, H mag, NO WAY until you are expert level reefin', go with a RBTA, at least 1 yr after you establish your tank, and take that time to research your fish and nems.

You are getting ahead of yourself, you should wait until you have an established tank like mentioned above. IMO there is no "easy" anemone.
