Dead sections of Fungia

I have an orange fungia that has two dead spots where sand have covered the coral. On each of these spots, algae has grown over, but no skeleton is showing. The rest of the coral is healthy and growing I believe. Is it possible for these areas to grow back, or am I left with a funky fungia?

Sure......of course they will grow back.

Clean the algae off. I don't think it will grow back with the algae on it. I personally had a fungia that had a dead spot after it got in contact with an acan. The spot heals over a months time.
