I've been looking at a number of the high end *single pass* skimmers on the market and it has occurred to me that the residence time on many of these beasts is 30 seconds or less. I thought that a well designed skimmer was supposed to have a residence time of somewhere between a minute and two minutes.
Has this design principle been sent to pasture? Can anyone help me understand what has changed? The skimmers I am trying to emulate have never been popular in the DIY recirc threads.
