Are there any anemones that wouldn't outgrow a 39g?

Well, a BTA and LTA but IMO every anemone has the potential of outgrowing a tank. Just make sure whatever you get that you could someday move it.

Yeah, I won't have anything in my tank for awhile I'm just trying to get some ideas. I think anemones are sweet, but my concern was it outgrowing the tank.

What does everyone here do when their anemone outgrows the tank?

My RBTA I would cut. To make two, or if it was another type I would upgrade tank size or trade.

You'll be fine. Anemones don't need large flat surfaces to stretch out. Just know ahead of time that you're probably looking at a species tank and you can't keep coral or anything.

Otherwise no one would have an anemone in a tank that was less then 24" wide

I assume your tank is like 30x18? Or 36x12?
