I just finished cycling my solana aquarium system and over the past couple days have received a huge algae outbreak. I know a diatom bloom when I see it and I don't think this is it.

I have tested my water and everything is clear across the board. Do you think it's just normal because of the initial ammonia spike from the cycle that made the algae outbreak?

Here is an idea of what I am talking about.

I added 10 astrea snails but it just isn't keeping up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, diatom and hair algae are normal parts of setting up a new tank. Luckily, the hair algae is the last part so you are almost done. Keep the tank healthy and the algae will go away or you can get some hermits to eat it.

Get about 10 scarlet hermit crabs or blue legged hermit crabs, they will mow it down like tiny John Deere tractors.
