I have had my chili coral for about 2 weeks now. when I first got it, the (tenticals?) started to come out some. but went away. I see pics that show it looking great, but mine laways looks lke this. Also I http://i390.photobucket.com/albums/oo349/carolgyrl1/feedinglps009.jpgam having trouble figuring out what and when to feed.

they put out their polyps at night. if you keep em in the fuge with dirty water they swell up.

I dont think sheilding from lights is necessary as long as no algae is growing on the tissue and they're not right at the top; They are non-photosynthetic. I've kept them unshaded, anmd shaded before with no apparent differences. I never fed anything specific when I kept them, they would just swell up at night and extend their polyps to feed.

BTW they are a "soft-coral." You'll probably get more responses in that forum or the "non-photosynthetic" forum would be another good one to post in (ni terms of suplpemental feeding).

Here is a link to some info on them: http://www.marinecenter.com/corals/coralssoft/chilicactuscoral/
