Im getting ready to place a order for a 400 watt bulb. I've always liked the growth I got out of the 250 watt xm 10k I'm just looking for some advice on the 400 watt version

I am about to change my 12k Reeflux to a 10k XM. On a PFO HQI ballast the par is through the roof! They do burn a little more yellow than the 12k Reeflux.

I currently run two 400w 10k XMs on M59 magnetic ballasts over my 125g. I'm overall happy with the color once it is blended with two 5ft URI super actinic VHOs. I also love the growth but am in the process of seeing how a Hamilton 10k compares as it's PPFD is rated a bit higher and it's reported to burn whiter on my ballasts...

The PPFD of the 10k XM on my ballast is a bit higher than the 12k Reeflux. About 45 PPFD. That is A LOT more par. Kinda excited to see the difference!

if you have the room, put some VHO actinic AND T5 actinic+ bulbs with the 400w XM and the color is really nice!

I ran 400W 10K XM's for a while with great results. I would run them with a few Actinic bulbs for the best color.

They grow some corals for sure. I have almost as much success with Reeflux 12k (not quite) but with less algae growth and no need for supplemental color on the 12k.
