View Full Version : can i use store-bought distilled water as a top-off?

getting a hold of RO water in the next few days is going to be difficult, and i'm getting low because of evap. can i just buy a few gallons of distilled water from a grocery store to top off with?

Check and see how it's distilled. Some of them are processed by RO.

For the short term, distilled water is a better choice than tap water. I would use it if I were in a pinch.

But not the best. Best at that store would be water from a kiosk, not a shelf. Kiosk_--small booth or display of wares: you bring or buy the jug, it's filled there.

Yes, I use them. Always have, I haven't had a single problem.

I actually bought like 30+ jugs and just refill them at the lfs .50c a gallon whenever I can.

I buy it from WalMart and haven't had any problems (yet... knock on wood!)

The problem with purchasing water is you have no control over its quality. Distilled water could possibly have copper in it but most distillation apparatus today are glass lined stainless steel. I would get my hands on a TDS meter to be sure.
