Are hang on the back skimmers as effective as in sump skimmers?

Between the Octopus BH 300f and Aqua C Remora Pro, which is the better skimmer? The octopus handles more volume so is that the way to go? What about reliability?

I plan on having a tank somewhere in the 65-90 gallon area

IMO no because in-sumps are WAY larger plus have bigger pumps, this allows more contact time and more bubbles/air. but between the two i'd go octo because i use an octo in-sump and love it plus i've heard a lot of bad reviews from aqua c, not saying it is a bad skimmer though but really it all comes down to how much you want to spend

Ok thanks. I'll go the octopus route. Will the HOB still be alright though or in your opinion should I go sump?

If I had a sump, I'd use the in-sump. Like Fish say's a LOT more skimming. But if you are short on space they can be used, you just won't get the same performace as you would from a larger skimmer. They are designed for users like myslef that don't have an overflow.
