I've had some issues with electronic ballasts dying after a couple years on NO tubes and have heard of similar issues on PC ballasts.

Is this the same on MH ballasts? Will the electronics crap out after a couple years?

How do they compare (in long term durability) to the magnetic ballasts?

i've had a magnetic one for 15 years (in storage for 10 of those years) only had to replace the capacitor.

I find the magnetic ballasts for metal halide bulbs to be more reliable than electronic MH ballasts. The electronic ballasts for halides are somewhat finicky. I have been using the same MH 250 watt magnetic ballasts no problems for the past 5 years.

Thanks guys. I suspected such a thing but hopefully MH electronic ballasts are more durable than the florescents.

Grigsy, do you mean "finicky" as in delicate, or finicky as in "picky about how they are used"?
