so i just seen some microscopic tiny white dots all over the acrylic, but it isnt on the fish. i thought it could be ich but with the amount i saw, its probably been there at least a week or two, and ich would have overtaken the fish.

any ideas it is small with a tail looks like a tadpole but white and smaller than a grain of sand.

also looks smaller than copepods

Moved to New to the Hobby as more on topic here.

If they move around, perhaps they're a type of copepod or isopod.

well are there different kinds and sizes of pods? i hope you are right because i would be pretty mad if i acquired ich ...

like i said, copepods are about the size of a grain of sand while these little things are about 1/5 that...

Marine ich won't show up as white spots on the glass. There are thousands of species of copepods. You might also be seeing mysid shrimp of some sort.

If you have a tank and fish, ich is more than likely present already. It just isn't infecting the fish at this moment. Unless you dip all of your fish, you have it!

60Cubed....
Are you saying all fish or tanks have ich??

DarthSimon, I've heard that all tanks likely carry some dormant ich parasites, but I've never had a problem with it. In this case, it's much more likely to be copepods over anything else.

I don't think anyone knows how many tanks contain marine ich.

yeah... although I'm a newbie, that sounds very far-fetched!
