i have a ap 24 and have a 10 gallon fuge plumed into it i can not seem to get the nitrates under control i have checked rodi water and everything is ok. can not get the nitrates to drop below about 20. i due weekly water changes of about 6 gallons thinking of adding a octopus HOB and was wondering if i could get some feed back on what model to get and how the performance was working for thoughs that have the different models. thank you for your input......

For that size tank I would think the 100 models would be fine.

for the ap24g, you might want to look at the newer models, ie; this one:

I like the 100F because the pump is in the skimmer box. Nothing in the tank but the surface skimmer and return line. The 100SS would also work but the pump has to be in the tank. My only concern is if you have the room for this skimmer. I do not know anything about this tank.

koraltek,
Is the Octo pump better or the same as the Resun pumps?

the resun pumps on the older octo hobs are total and utter crap. most of them simply overheat and fail after a month or 2
the regular otp pumps made by haliea that octo uses are better than the resun pumps for sure, plus no pump in the tank, and no lame siphon to deal with like on the bh-100,300f models

That is what I was thinking. I have had great luck with my Resun pump but I guess it is the luck of the draw.

Do you think there will be heat issues because of the external mount with the new skimmers? I suspect is will be ok since this pump is used external in other Octopus skimmers.

they should be fine, they have been used on the CArx's and external recirc models for some time, i didnt ever see more of those pumps than the submerged ones being returned...
