Hi all,

I just purchased some Hamilton 14K bulbs for the first time a few days ago, and so far they almost look like 20K bulbs. Is this normal? Will they lose some of the blue/purple hue over time? Here is what they look like on my new setup. I'd love to hear your thoughts...

For any bulb, I wouldn't worry too much about the color for the first week, it will take that long for them to burn in.

I know when I got my XM 20,000K they were too blue the first week, after that the color was what I was hoping for.

I ran them for yrs. They will get blueish-white in a few weeks, they just need time to burn in.

Give it 2 or 3 weeks and they lighten up. I ran the 250's for a couple of years.

How do you like the Reeflux 12K compared to the 14K Hamilton? Color? Better growth?

I dont know if is just my monitor, but that looks bluer than my new radiums on HQI mine is just whiter than that, but still has enough blue to where I dont need actinics.

what ballast are you running them on. They will whiten up.

I'm using Lumateks. They've been running 5 days now and look a little bit brighter, but I still hope they whiten up even more.

Hamilton 250w 14k bulbs are great! They will burn into there true color in a week or so. I know many people including myself that use only hamilton 14k bulbs.

I've wondered about that, but my XM's stay bright until I change them (once a year). I've been overdriving XM's and Iwasaki's for the past 4 years or so, and have never had a problem with them becoming dim. I've heard the Hamilton's are kinda on the cheap side and may burn out, but then again the XM's are made in China.... I guess I should just try the Hamilton and see what happens.
