I had my past royal gramma for 10 years but, he died last Sat. night.
Silly me I went and bought a new small baby yesterday but, after
I got him acclimated within 2 hours, my 6 line almost killed him.
I've got the new baby in a bucket, with a heater and air stone.
I dont know what to do now. the 6 line has never bothered another
fish before now.
The baby ate this am. Do I try to put the royal gramma in tonight
after the lights go out?

My tank is a 55 gal. with about a 100 lbs. of live rock,
plenty of hiding space but, the little royal gramma wants to stay out
in the open.

I can't reaarange the rocks because, of the corals.
The new fishs tail is mostly torn off and bite marks on both of his sides.
He's in melafix in the bucket.

Sorry to hear of your loss.
I hope someone who has had experience with this will chime in. I hope the poor little baby is ok. Grammas are hardy little fish, so he should recover provided the sixline backs off.

Unfortunately that is the problem with a 6 line. They typically show aggression to any new smaller additions, sometimes even much larger ones. In my opinion the aggression will not subside, at least not before the gramma is dead. Remove the 6 line or don't add anything else to the tank.

+1 on what SlowCobra said.

You will have to remove the 6 line if you want to add the new fish or the 6 line will most likely kill it.

One possibility, if you care to risk it, would be to remove the sixline for some time (put it in QT for a couple of weeks, perhaps), add the baby gramma, and then add the sixline back in. Just adding the baby gramma after lights out likely won't do the trick, IMO.

Thanks guys, for the advice. I got up early this morning and took every live rock and coral out and caught the 6 line and the coral beauty and the killer yellow tang, bagged them up and took them
to my LFS and he gave me a credit for $55.00 .
Now, my yellow watchman and the molly miller and pair of clowns
think that I'm al-kida walking.

I waited until all the dust settled and the protien skimmer pulled
the leftovers out and I put the baby royal grammer in and he looks,
rough but, happy.
only time will tell if he will make it or not.
