I bought an oak-trimmed tank and I want to either stain the trim to match the color of my stand (Cherry stain - probably not realistic) or just paint it flat black. Has anyone done this? If so, what kind of paint/stain should I use?

Thanks!

If you went to any Home Depot or a paint store I'm sure they could give you the proper answer to which type of stain to use.

It will probably ideal to get some sort of garage floor paint. The reason I say that is becuase its very durable against element like corosive salt

I would look in to krylon fusion paint. It's made to bond with plastics. Clean the trim and maybe scuff it up and spray bomb it. I used it to paint my return plumbing (pvc) and it has held up very well. Even the elbow that is in the water.

I just glued wood trim to it, then stained that.
