I dont have a sump/refug. I wanted to lower my trates and water changes weekly was not doing it. On Saturday I got a mass of cheato and put it in the back corner of my tank. Yea not exactly pretty but I am not a perfectionist.
Trates were between 20-40
Now they are 0 I did the test twice.
Each day I pull any stragglers out that have floated to my korolia. and I am going to turn it every couple days.
Hopefully it will stay good long term.

Make a small egg crate cage int the corner of your tank. You can make one with 3 sides and using the side glass as the 4th corner. This will help keep the stands from coming out of the ball.

yeah.. or go to walmart and get a soap dish and suction it to the side of the tank.. it keeps the stragglers to a minimum

I am planning on the soap dish .... I just keep forgetting it when we do shopping. My tank has only been up since July 5
4 week cycle then added some snails and crab.
2 more weeks some snails and shrimp
1 more the blenny
6 weeks like that then cheato.
weekly water changes of 3-4 gallons usually 3.5 rodi

Seems amazing that the nitrate level would fall that fast. Congratulations.
