View Full Version : sps color fading/bleaching on one side

i was just moving a couple things in my tank around and noticed my sps are fading/bleaching on the back sides what could this be caused by. all my params look good. except cal. is a little low at 300. the front of the corals so to speak are fine still vibrant and full extension. any thoughts...thanks.

By "back sides" do you mean away from the light source? When a colony begins to shade upon itself the underlying tissues can be blocked from the light and lose some of their vibrance. At least in my tank this happens on some of the larger pieces.

no the side faceing the rear of the tank. some are just frags that dont produce any shade on themselves. i thought it might be flow but on the right side of my tank my power head is on the back facing out and the fading is wide spread throught the tank

lack of light to that side.i have frags that the side that faces the light is fully colored and the side opposite is dull.this seems to occur more when the frag is near the tank wall,the wall side is not in direct light so looks dull or brown.

i would love too but checked all of them today and they all have this problem
