The insulation (outer black layer) on one of my 6101's has torn where it goes into the pump. The unit still runs, but the wires are bound to break eventually if I don't fix it.

Is it easy to open the pump body, cut off the end of the cable, and rewire? After an urchin has spent two years chewing on the case?

I think you should send your pump in so Roger can take a look at it. Whatever you do at home may not be cover by tunze esp open the cover of your tunz..

Steve is right, go ahead and send them in. If that is taken care of properly then water can seep into the motor block and ruin the electronics and the pump. Our address is

Tunze USA
305 Victor St
Austin TX 78753

Please include a note with your return address as well.

Please include a phone number in the box, the motor has to be replaced, it will cost about $70.

Art C, it has nothing to do with being coward. It is the best way to solve the problem and prevent future issue. I bet you don't want the electrical current to run wild in your tank :D

That's true, it's only a little DC so it wouldn't be death by misadventure for me - only for my critters.
