I do know its a LPS but I am not sure what it is exactly. I got it as a gift and well I am just curious. First pic is with actinics, second is with flash. Polyps open up at night when it feeds and it is a realitivly slow grower. ANy help would be awsome.

so I have never heard of this type of coral before. Are they very common? What are they worth? I know what someone will pay but out of curiosity. I got it for around 20 bucks at a local pet store and later found out that it was like 20 bucks for one head. It grows kind of slow but it has multiplied its polyps just in the past few weeks. I have had it for around 6 months.

Its a Genus in the Favid family of coral. I don't think they are what one would call common..
Should be OK with standard Favia/Favites care..

agree, oullophyllia benatae. Lower light coral, nice. Can extend long tentacles at night.

I for sure will have to get a picture of the tentacles extended. Thanks all for your help in identifying my mystery. Dustin
