Refugium Setup

Hello,
I will be setting up my first refugium within the next week. Purchased one from LifeReef along with a new sump. Jeff finished it and will be shipping on tuesday. Very Excited. Im thinking of just using rubble rock (live) along with Macro algae of some kind and a sorts of snails, crabs, etc in it. Will this be a good idea. I currently have 2 inch layer of live sand in my tank and it just seems to trap debri. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I wouldn't use live rock rubble, use actual live rock or sand/fuge mud to go along with your chaeto. LR rubble can be a nitrate trap.

just have LR and macro in mine. Since feeding directly from tank with no filter sock running BB as can siphon out the detritus.

Depending on the crab, might not be a refugium (place of refuge).
