Has anyone actually taken one out of the box and plugged it in? I would like a very scientific test done.....put one in water next to a vortech and see which one feels stronger. Then place your ear next to them to see which one is louder. I am also curious to the size when placed next to a K4.

Any help or pics would be nice.

Thanks, Dan.

Hi Dan,

WE tested a Koralia 6, but not the 8 yet. The 6 was very quiet. They are bulky though, the Vortech would take up a lot less tank space.

Noise wise, no comparison. I have a K8, Tunze 6101, and had Vortechs awhile back. The Vortechs are very noisy pumps. The K8 is far quieter, not quite as quiet as the Tunze, but very good. The K8 is a big pump, bigger than the Tunze Stream. The flow is very nice, wide pattern.

Have you got the new K8 12v ones?

I just checked with Hydor and they said they are expected near the end of the year.

Hmmm... So with the wavemaker4 the choice widens

Can someone explain the difference with the new one mentioned and the one that is out now?
Thanks.

I hope the 12vs make good wave makers (boxes)

Hi Amanda,

The standard 110v Koralias are not controllable, they run 100% all the time.

The 12V units have two benifits, one is takes all that voltage out of your tank, so makes it a little safer and also the 12V models can be controlled using there wavemaker. So if you wanted waveaction, the 12V units are the best option, but they are expensive.

Oh I see.
Thanks for the explanation.

As far as I know if any Koralia is ran on a wave maker it will void the warranty. They are not made to turn on and off. Not to say no one has tried it and they are doing well.

So the 12v Koralia pumps (nano to 8) have no warranty if used on the koralia wavemaker and wavemaker4.

Im pretty sure she was refering to the 110 volt models, not the 12v versions.

Yes I was refering to the regular models. The 12v models can only be run on their wavemaker. You would not be able to run them on another one. They have a special plug to plug it into the wavemaker.

Any shipping coupons, and are the mag 8's in stock and ready to ship?

Hi,

We do not have any shipping coupons right now. Only RC coupon running is special on an Orca Skimmer.

We do have plenty of 8's instock.

thanks

I have a number of koralia 2 and 3's that have been running on on an AC3 wavemaker for nearly a year. When they are dirty they don't reliably restart, but for the most part no problems, except for chatter when they restart.
