I purchased a farmed LE rainbow monti frag from Fraggle Reef about 2 weeks ago and it has not colored up at all. I'm seeing some brownish / red polyps but no real color on the coral itself. Anyone have this coral that may share some info? I had it about midway up in tank (2 400W 14K Halides) and then moved it down to the bottom about a week ago.

If you have one, how long did it take to color up? All params are good and all other SPS is looking great.

And this is no knock on Fraggle Reef. I have several other pieces from them that are beautiful!

Any help is appreciated.

You have more lighting than I but for what its worth, mine is only about 6" from my 150w MH Phoenix and very happy. It seems to take very high light well for me.

It may just need more time.

I remember buying a completely browned out piece, and it took me a while before it got its beautiful colors back.

I bought a browned rainbow from ultimate frags a while back.......I was like what the? then about 2 months later it turned into an amazing piece. I placed it up pretty high under 250 HQI's. it just took a long time to come around for some reason.

I had a very large imported rainbow that was purchased completely brown, kept it down low, and it never colored up, i then placed it under a 400w 12k 15' away, and it started to color up within a couple of weeks and is getting brighter and brighter every day, so possibly keep it low, adjust it to your lights and raise it up slowly over time, they color up good for me under high light and flow.

the tyree rainbow monti seems to like a lot of light...

my mother colony pictured in this Thread (http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=1480791).

They can be picky. I have two pieces from the SAME mother colony. One is brown with orange polyps and the other is neon blue base with bright polyps like it's supposed to be. Both are on the same rock in the same flow with the same light.

I would definitely give it more time, especially since you have moved it a couple of times. It usually takes corals a couple of months of stable conditions to develop their permanent colors in your tank.
If you're other sps are doing well, I'm sure it will eventually color up for you.

I've also got a tyree rainbow monti. I have it up high under a Phoenix 14k 150 watt MH. I have tried everything I know to get it to color up. The polyps are a bright orange and has the blue base. I might see a couple of green polyps now and then, but no where near what I see in some others I've seen. I'm beginning to think my lighting isn't strong enough.
