to other nano reefers, how do you do your water changes? we have corals up high and when we drain water they quickly become exposed but in a nano tank theres not too many other places i can put them! i have a 29 and i do a 6 gallon water change once a week. ive thought of doing a 3 gallon change twice a week but even then im pretty sure it would be the same issue. so i was wondering, does anyone else have this problem? what do you do?

Don't worry about it. A few of my SPS are out of the water when I do water changes, just as long as it's only a few minutes it's fine.

Not if it's Gorgs and Sponges those should not be exposed to air for that long, everything else is fine.

good to know. i have a montipora, candy cane, cloves, and yellow polyps exposed for about 10 min tops so they should be fine. thanks!

there are tidal food plains in Bali where the all the corals regardless of species are left out of water during low tide for hours on end in the blistering sun...they are all still growing and living...

i am sure twenty minutes for a water change wont hurt anything...

just be sure your WC water is temp and parameter match to your tank, so as to not shock the livestock...

Corals are much tougher than people think. Don't worry about it one bit.

I try and keep my rocks wet so that I dont get any coraline die off.

that why I always change the water from the sump. I fill the whole think to the top and chaneg that water. I do clean the tank glass and try to siphon detritus but all this goes to the sump and the I change teh water.
