I wanted to leave my lights off for a few days to attempt to control this algae problem.
My question is can my clam handle 3 days of no lighting? I usually run my 250w 15000K MH for 7 hours a day and T5s for 12 hours a day.
Thanks.

We went with out power for six days due to high winds and my clams did just fine with out light.
they'll be fine... the one risk would be shocking/burning of the clam when you kick the lights back on, but I wouldnt think it's too high of a risk.

High winds from IKE in Ohio? I'm in DFW and we didn't get hardly over 30mph.

We got 80MPH winds here in Dayton area. It was a freak thing though. Had something to do with the moisture on the ground and the high pressure. Did not understand it but it was the craziest thing I had ever seen weather related. Took out over 20k peoples power in my county and some where out for two weeks. I only lost it for about 28 hours. Used a power inverter and car battery to keep the tank going

I am in Englewood, I had to run my tank from a inverter to. It was a pain getting up every three hours to start the car but the tank came though fine. I got to talk to the guys that fixed our power and he said it only took him 5 minutes to hook it back up; It just took them 6 days to get here :mad2:
I have a Crocea and use the lights-out treatment. No problems. sometimes, when ambient room light is at its highest, I feed phyto during this dark period. Whether or not it appreciates it, my sponges do. Of course, feeding phyto probably doesn't do a darned thing for your phosphate problem.
