for the past month our town water comming in is at 7.9 PH

i run a ro di unit and just added new membrans the TDS is a .001 therefore the filtration is working but the issue is the PH is high

since i have an auto top off my tank params are good

alk 12
cal 430
mag 1350

but my ph ranges from 8.3 to 8.6

for the last 5 years my ph has been at 8.2 to 8.3 constant

i have a calcium reactor and a mrc 2 R skimmer

how do i lower the ph in the tank?

or how do i lower the incomming PH?

please help...

the only way that i know of to lower pH is to increase CO2, you have to be very careful. i use carbonated water. i tried hooking up CO2 tank to skimmer for a couple minutes one time when pH went high, and it took the pH from 9.3 to 6.9 in a few minutes. i am dealing with the death of corals now.

that said, i usually keep my pH around 8.3 low, and 8.7 high. at over 8.5 PO4 precipitates from the water. this can be very helpful. everything seemed to handle the high pH quite well, colors were great. i also keep alk high at 12-15, ca at 440-480 and mag around 1300-1400

How are your corals doing ? If they're OK I wouldn't chase numbers. As downhillbiker pointed out trying to get perfect parameters can backfire.
